Hello,

I finally decided to upgrade my graphics but I don't know which brand. I'm currently looking at 'MSI gaming X' and the EVGA SC gaming or the FTW.

I currently have a i7 4770 @3.5ghz and a gtx 760. (Will my cpu bottleneck?)

I plan on playing games on 1080p @ 144hz on ultra/high settings

Any Comments are appreciated.

I would say the Gaming X is marginally more powerful, but SC/FTW are slightly cheaper and require less power connectors (I think, dont quote me on this).

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

One of the different Strix versions are available, MSI or the FTW. But basically it doesn't matter. Just get a cooler that you like and OC it yourself. With Pascal it seems like every card get's to about the same.

I was torn between the 2 as well personally, but I went with the MSI Gaming X and have enjoyed every minute of it.

I recommend Asus because their triple fan config is efficent and good looking too. My experience with asus customer service was very good and unfortunately same thing didnt happen with my friend's MSI GTX 960  it was not performing well and when we sent it to service delivery was 6 days late. I have no idea about EVGA. None of my friends or I used EVGA cards.

I just got the Asus GTX 1070 strix non-oc version. One thing I don't recommend is paying more for a factory overclock. I saved close to 50$ by getting the non-oc version (in Canada) and it boosts to 1900+ Mhz on its own anyways. Temps never go above 63 degrees and my room is fairly hot.

I think you will be happy with whichever one you choose. It's just such a great card. Just don't get the founder's edition and you will be happy.

EVGA has the best customer service of any GPU vendor hands down. If you thought Asus was good (surprising tbh), EVGA blows them out of the water.

I do second the Strix recommendation.

As I said i did not have any experience with EVGA and Asus's customer service is good at least in my country. Actually when I saw the EVGA 1080 I was blown up by design so I think  joeydutchman should go for Asus or EVGA.

I'm on board with 1070 as well. I will be upgrading in a month or so and I'm leaning towards EVGA FTW.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X Motherboard: MSI B550 Tomahawk RAM: Kingston HyperX Predator RGB 32 GB (4x8GB) DDR4 GPU: EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 SSD: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 512 GB NVME | Samsung QVO 1TB SSD  HDD: Seagate Barracuda 4TB | Seagate Barracuda 8TB Case: Phanteks ECLIPSE P600S PSU: Corsair RM850x

I am a gamer, not because I don't have a life, but because I choose to have many.

I know you already decided on the EVGA which is definitely a solid choice but if your priority is noise, I'd go for the MSI Gaming X. I had originally purchased that one and had very minor coil whine under load so I decided to ask Newegg for a replacement, since they had none in stock I was refunded and figured I'd purchase the 1070 FTW from EVGA and with just my luck, it has more coil whine and the fans seem to make a sort of whirring noise when they turn on which wasn't present at all on the MSI variant. I got a replacement from EVGA and the same issues are present, so I kind of wish I stuck with the first MSI Gaming X card I got.

Im planning to buy the EVGA card at a local shop.  If I don't like it or has issues then in able to exchange it for a different product or for money back. I will keep the things you said in mind about the EVGA card.

Unless you have had Asus customer service it's pretty hard to say which one is better.

First build every: Intel Core i7 4790K, Asus Z97-A/USB 3.1 motherboard, Kingston HyperX FURY 1866 2x8 16GB Kit, Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 G1 Gaming, Corsair Obsidian 450D Black ATX Mid Tower, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB & 3TB Toshiba HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2, Corsair H100i GTX 240mm, Gigabyte Bluetooth 4.0/Wifi Card, Logitech G700S. Running on Windows 10

Surface Pro 3: i5 4300U with 8GB of ram and 256GB SSD. Running Windows 10 Pro
