Hey guys. that time has come again where i need to reformat.

I normally use DBAN and wipe my SSD then reinstall windows only problem is, last time i did that some programs had some cache on my 1TB scratch disk so when i reinstalled said programs they freaked out so i had to wipe my scratch disk also.

it took in all around 2 days. i cant afford to do that again and i have tons of pictures on my scratch disk now.

so my question is

Can i just unplug my HDD, boot into Windows, then "reformat" my SSD through DiskManager which would essentially wipe it right?

Will it fully clear my SSD?

thanks guys,

John

Just plug the SSD into another computer and format from there.

why would that be any different than me doing it from my computer?

Wiping within Windows is always a pain in the ass.

would i risk corruption or is it next to impossible?

i dont mind tinkering a little.

it would be easier for me to do it through windows unfortunately

Unless the program is insanely well coded, I'd think it's impossible. Windows has files it doesn't want you to be wiping, and puts up a hella lot of walls to do just that.

If you have a Corsair SSD, I'd use it.

stop

shouldn't be necessary

i had some viruses and a buncha crap and pretty much wanted a surefire erase...it worked and luckily havent seen a performance droop

never again though...i can quit whenever i want

If you have a Corsair SSD, I'd use it.

PartedMagic is opensource

i was wondering if you had heard of it

i guess i'll try it this weekend
