So I just got my new microphone, the Neewer NW-700. And it's suppose to have NO static or buzzing or anything. I've watched basically all the audio tests and stuff.

But for some reason every time I use it, it just sounds like the attached file.

(That's me not talking, you can still hear my voice if I talk)

Jesus christ. Yes, that "Thing" at the back of your PC is the I/O shield of the motherboard. What motherboard do you have?

And before you ask, to check it download CPU-Z and go into the Motherboard tab.

Do you have a front panel in your PC case where you can plug in the mic, or is it only possible at the "back" of it?

Yes, I have a front panel where I can plug in the mic, headphones, and has two usb ports. Should it be in the front?

Ever tried connecting the mic there? Was the result the same as when it's connected at the back?

It seems like either:

1. The mic is defective

2. The soundcard on the motherboard is defective

3. (though doubt it) that the soundcard is too low end for the mic.

A dedicaded sound card would solve your problem if it's the mobo. To check whether it's the microphone simply plug it into another PC and check if the issue persists.

It might also be a software issue, or something is simply set wrong, but it's impossible for me to determine that if it's on the software side, as I can't see your settings etc.

EDIT: I just thought of that... Do you have any microphone boosts enabled? They could cause that.

Well how do I show you the settings?

I plugged it into the front panel, same results. How do I change my soundcard or get a better one or whatever

First try connecting the mic to another PC, that immediately and easily eliminates two of the possible causes of the issue. If it works properly on another PC, it's either your motherboard that has a faulty soundcard or some settings are set in a wrong way. If it still doesn't work properly, that indicates a faulty microphone.

You can buy a dedicated PCI Soundcard.

Your PC is "leaking" static electricity. I have it as well because of my house bad grounding (I live in an ex-USSR country in late USSR built flat). Test your microphone with you touching your PC case, if the problem is gone it's definitely that. Reply here if touching the case works.

Then I don't think I can help you, telling you to buy a soundcard without eliminating other possible causes of the issue would be wrong, as it might be anything.

One last thing I can tell you to do is: Go to Sound -> Recording devices->rightclick on the microphone and go into properties, then check whether microphone boost is set to 0dB

setting it to 0 reduced it quite a lot, but it's not perfect

It won't be. Your motherboard is cheap and low-end and the soundcard on it is probably not that good, you need either a quality dedicated soundcard or a motherboard upgrade. Looking at the socket, the CPU could use an upgrade as well.

when your pc is not grounded correctly it can cause interference with microphones. try to hold your hand on your pc case then test your microphone.
