Upgrading an i3

Hey guys so I just recently built my first pc

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/wQpFGf

and in a year or two I am probably going to upgrade my Cpu. I am planning on getting an i5. I would really like an i5 6600k, but since I don't don't have a z170 mobo, I know I can't overclock, so should I just get a 6600 or maybe even an 6500.

Thanks

:)

You shouldn't plan upgrades over a year away as things change. Kaby Lake-S will likely be out by then. Technically (it won't) it could be 400% faster than Skylake. Your needs may change. Game development may change. An i5 may prove to be shitty by then and you'll need an i7....The point is, planning an upgrade so far in advance doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Regardless, to answer your question, the 6500 unless the 6600 is basically the same price. Although you should upgrade your GPU first.

With a Non-Z motherboard, you'll want to grab a 6600 or a 6500, yes. It's hard to speculate a year or two out, you'll basically want to re-evaluate the situation at the time you're making your purchase. It'll depend on what current games of the time require, etc.
