Doesn't matter once you are in the live version. If you wanted to you can just unplug the hard drive and boot from one your brought with linux or your windows on it

Hi all,

So I want to boot the Tails live OS from my USB and stuff and i'm afraid that after it boots up, I won't be able to go back to my normal desktop. All I want to do is use it for a couple of hours (don't ask me why because even I don't know) then close it and then my normal desktop to pop up. Can I do this or do I have to use a virtual machine, I really don't want to reinstall windows when I need it back again. Thanks in advanced!

It probably won't even mount the Windows drive unless if you tell it to.

So if you close the OS then the computer will do back to your regular desktop?

Yeah you are fine. If you were installing it the process would take like 15 minutes and it would make you select a password, select the driver you want, it would tell you windows boot loader is installed, you select if you want to, then it has to download patches, and so on. I use live USBs all the time on school PCs. Very helpful

Yeah it is like a tiny watch battery. It just says all the admin options so you can't access the BIOS and so forth. Unplug it and all of them are now not saved. Plug it back in and they are back

Doesn't matter once you are in the live version. If you wanted to you can just unplug the hard drive and boot from one your brought with linux or your windows on it
