Phone connection issues

Go to solution Solved by rob3342421,

So everything is fixed! I did not fix it, instead the recent update to the 1607 build has fixed everything!

Which means that the problem was with Windows in the first place and their attempt to get money out of me for tech support was unfair!

Still, I'm happy that it is sorted! Sorry if you're looking for an answer but mine was sorted with the summer update!

Hi there, first off I was not sure where to put this so I left it here, hopefully its in the right area.

So I have been having odd problems here and there with Windows 10 for a while and I haven't been able to fix them. Things like not being able to connect an Xbox One controller to the PC or stream movies to the Xbox itself. But now I need to access files on my mobile phone and I'm getting an error in the devices properties that reads:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I have tried talking to Microsoft who could not fix the issue and offered me advanced technical support for a price. I told them that I'm not paying so hopefully someone else on this forum has had this issue and can help me.

I have tried reinstalling the driver, USB drivers and what have you but it still has the same issue.

It's set to MTP I think if that's what you mean?

Update::

I have emailed Samsung now to try and get an answer to the issue, I'll update again once they've replied. Hopefully this will sort the problem!

Which of course did not fix anything so I have replied with:

Spoiler

I’m still getting issues connecting I have installed smart switch on both my Samsung Galaxy S5 and the PC. I have also reinstalled the driver via smart switch and nothing is working. Furthermore I wish to access the files stored on the phone not migrate them to a new device, is there a way to do this using smart switch.

I believe the problem is with the desktop PC as the attached screenshot suggests with error code:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Can you help with registry errors? PS the other MTP device is my iPad so it’s not just this device also suggesting its an issue with the PC.

I have uploaded the screenshot. Any help appreciated!!
