The optical drive is picked up by the BIOS, but not Windows Explorer, Piriform Speccy or Partition management. (The drive itself, not any media. It doesn't detect any discs either)

It's a Windows 10 PC, with an Asus AM3+ motherboard. It is enabled in the BIOS, but is forced into IDE mode, because of other settings.

I had this problem I had to google a guide on how to manually add it in the registry. But that worked.

I am a paid professional, but only when I am at work...and getting paid.

Is it just me, or is the registry generally really irritating?

Well, yeah it gets old fast. You could try a fresh os installation but it may still not show up. It's an odd bug.
