Hello guys,

It's my first time building a PC. I've done some research and came up with a parts list that I feel would satisfy my needs.

I was wondering if anyone would like to check the parts that I am planning to go with and give me further advice?

Parts List:

CPU: Intel i7-6800K

GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Strix

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X99

Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory

Storage: Mushkin Enhanced Reactor 1TB + Samsung 850 Evo 500GB

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

PSU: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D full tower case

I use my current PC (MSI GS60 Ghost Pro laptop (i7-4710 & GTX 870M)) to game (usually fps and racing games), model and test parts for small engineering projects (SolidWorks, Catia, Ansys).

Thanks a lot for your input :)

Tone down to a 5820K and a cheaper X99 motherboard (namely Asus X99-A II), and you can get a GTX 1080 instead of the 1070

My brother accidentally poked a straight hole through his motherboard with a screwdriver and it still works

You're lucky he poked it through a bit that didn't have a circuit in ti xD

That or it fucked a bit of a parallel circuit and only that doesn't work

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here
