Hey guys,

I'm having a spot of bother. For some reason, I can no longer access my NAS. Here's my setup

1) A Zyxel NSA325-v2 NAS, with two 5TB Western Digital Red Hard Drives in JBOD.

2) A Desktop PC running Windows 10 Pro x64

3) My laptop, running Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon x64

My laptop is connected via Wifi to internet and shares its internet connection with the desktop PC via ethernet cable (there is literally no way around this, so no advice on this please). The cable from laptop goes to a Netgear GS108 8-port gigabit switch. The NAS and the desktop are connected to this switch with CAT5E cables.

When I turned on my NAS, it didn't show up in either Linux or Windows. Before (in my old residence, when there was an ethernet cable going from GS108 to an ISP supplied modem/router in the other room an I wasn't running any bridged connections like I am today), I had no problems accessing the NAS. If it didn't show up by itself, I'd just type in its address in the File Explorer address bar (typically //NSA325-v2 or smb://NSA325-v2).

However, today, that no longer works and now I'm at my wits end. Any help please?

Just off hand, about the only thing I can think of that is the problem is the complete lack of a modem/router in this setup. Unlike my old ISP modem, the Netgear GS108 has no GUI at all. I can't assign IP addresses or anything...but then if that were the problem, how come I can connect my laptop to GS108, and desktop to GS and share internet connection, basically how come these two devices can talk to each other, but they apparently don't even know the NAS is there?
