Port Forwarding Problem

FlushaDev

Hello guys,

Whenever I try to port forward for my PC on my router (I'm connected to now) the ports aren't forwarded or for some reason they can't pass through the modem.

But whenever I connect to my modem and forward the ports there it works, even tho I have the DMZ set to my router's IP.

Please help

What type of Router / Modem do you use

Generally the Modem doesnt do port forwarding and just goes straight to the Router and then the router controls it  (PC may have local firewall to also deal with - you can test this via turning of the windows firewall (turn it back on once you are done though)

The modem is like my main network it controls the TV connections and all the internet stuff. The thing is I forward my IP on my modem (When I'm connected to the modem) and it works. But when I forward while connected to my router, the ports aren't visible when checking with canyouseeme.org

My router is a Netis one,  WF2419

The modem is the one that my ISP provided.

You might have to forward on both devices.

So set the router as a static ip address

Can I forward the ports on the modem but the ports have the IP of the router?

Like this

Orr something else...

The IP addresses of my router are 192.168.1.x and my modem's 192.168.0.x

So port forward all the ports that you want on the Modem onto the router and then on the router port forward to the PC - DMZ occasionally is a bit buggy with a few routers especially ISP provided ones

So what I do now can you please guide me...

1: I PF the ports that I want (1604) on the modem, but in the IP space I put the router's IP?

Yes (the routers internal external ip) if that makes sense

So in this case 192.168.0.10

I did try to forward the ports on themodem for the router and did the same thing for the PC on the router with the PCs address and it didn't work. No idea what's happening. Should I disable the DMZ on the modem?
