Cheapest GPU to run GTA5?

Dubesta11

I'm building a computer for a friend and have a strict budget of around $100-$130 for a graphics card. It will be paired with a 6-8 core AMD CPU. He is looking to be able to play GTA5 at a reasonable setting, so probably around medium/45FPS. What would be the best purchase?

Judging how the 480 sales are going, I won't have time to wait for a 460.

You could get the one that Steam recommends which is a 660Ti but if you wanna play on high settings and more FPS then you should go with a 750Ti

660Ti on Amazon.com - https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Overvoltage-N660TI-PE-2GD5/dp/B008SBX6GI

750Ti on Amazon.com - https://www.amazon.com/MSI-OC-PCI-Express-N750TI-2GD5/dp/B00I602S92

Good luck

Know that 750ti was released 2 generations ago, so don't expect outstanding support, especially since it's lower tier gpu.

It's still OK if he wants to play games like GTA 5, CS:GO and some games from the 2012-2013

sometimes over 20 FPS difference in favor of the 950. It's not that much more expensive for MUCH more performance. 33 FPS vs 54 FPS is pretty significant if you ask me.

If you can push for something like a GTX 950, do it. Otherwise, the 750 Ti or R7 360 are your best bet.

I can get a 750ti for around 100 dollars, while 950s are around 140 dollars (both before rebates). Amazing performance is not needed for this low of a price point.

40$ for 20FPS+ in GTA V (stock vs an OC'd (!) 750Ti) is more than worth it imo. But it's your call, obviously.

As I said, from what I understood, you need the most valuable GPU with the most performance for the money.

Then that would mean getting an used GPU like GTX 960 or 780.

this ^^ i would consider a GTX 950 to be a bare minimum as well..

109$ for a freaking For The Win EVGA 950 (i wasn't even aware they made those) after a 30$ MIR

EVGA mail-in rebates are super easy and they always approve...i,d do that

109$...the backplate alone on that thing is worth like 20$ :P

It is about 30 dollars over budget, and looking at benchmarks an i3/750ti is going to be plenty if I go that route.

This is not my money, and I can't spend over it unless I use my personal money. So, for my budget with current pricing and availability, a 750ti for 100 dollars is all I can afford, unless you find me a new 950 for less than 120 dollars.

109$ is too much!? you do realise a GTX 950 is 55% faster than a GTX 750ti?!

55% for freaking 9$?! i don't know who's money it is but it would be really dumb to do the 750ti man :(

Show me some actual gaming benchmarks and I will contact the person who is going to buy the computer to see if they can go over budget.
