If it is DDR3 and comes as a complete system in a 3/4u case, i would go up to around 150 euros. Hard drive is worthless, replace it when you get the system.

its a 1u case with a xeon e5420, ddr2 ram

No, you shouldn't. Something about it being bad for the drives I think. I would buy a small rack to put it in.

You can get a rough idea of how big 1U servers are by watching this video of Linus killing 3 motherboards:

its 70cm, I watched a couple review videos. Now Im just asking myself what could I do with the server? If I win it im going to get a second xeon to put in it for cheap

What I would do is put in a few drives and use it as a nas. It would also work as a pretty nice web server too.

It should do fine as a game server. I wouldn't try to do any rendering on it because the components aren't modern. The gpu on your computer could probably render faster.

Cost to run per month is more or less 20 - 40 €, should I rent it out for 40€? I might upgrade the ram to 32gb and it will have 2 quad core xeons.

Rent it out? Who is buying it? I meant as in personal use. If people wanted to rent a server they would go to big companies.

Sinlge slot gpu. Best is probably the m4000. If you don't want to pay up the ass for that, then something like a single slot gtx 750.

ok thanks, tbh this server will probably be used either as a game server or maybe a free server people can use.
