So I have an Acer S7-391 Core i5-3317U CPU @1.7-GHz , 4GB of RAM and 128GB  running Windows 8.1 x64 , . Anyhow up until last night hadn't had any problems with it. Now the wifi button is greyed out and I have no Bluetooth what so ever. I tried the fn key first nothing, then then turned it off and back on again nope. I've done some driver updates and roll backs with no effect. I also run Windows restore going back to 2 different restore points again with no luck. I really don't want to do a fresh install of Windows. Any thoughts ideas?

"  If you're using windows 8 move your mouse to the right ide of the screen and click on the "parameters" or "configuration" icon (my windows is not in english), then chose "change the pc parameters". Then choose wireless and activate your wi-fi "

Someone else suggests getting windows to troubleshoot the problems.

There are many reports of wifi problems with that model, so maybe it's best to get a small usb wifi dongle if some of these troubleshooting steps don't work.

I edit my posts a lot.

Check the Device Manager and see if the device(s) show up in there, if not then reboot into the BIOS and check to see if it is detected and enabled in there. If not, turn off the laptop, remove the battery, hold the power button for 15 seconds, re-insert battery, power back on and double-check everything. If not, then look up a service manual for your laptop to find out how to open it up and remove the wireless card. If it comes down to doing that, try booting with the wireless card removed, then shutdown, re-install the card, and try booting with it re-installed. If it still doesn't show up then the wireless card is likely dead and will need to be replaced. If it is under warranty don't bother trying to open it up yourself, just let the manufacturer deal with it.
