Hi guys, I'm just wondering whether it's worth it to upgrade to a stationery mic.

Currently I'm using the ModMic 3.0 and I kinda hate having the extra cable on my headphone. I'm thinking of getting the Blue Yeti or the AT2020

oh it might help to note that I'm on skype every single night so I guess I'm a heavy user of the mic.

what I would like to know is what are the pros and cos of those mic and do you think there are better ones out there.

cheers

well... I did put my options up there so in Australia the AT2020 is $199 AUD so I'm prepared to pay that much

How I hate living in Australia T_T

Have a look at the Snowball as well, its a great option for the price. However you can't really go wrong with those choices either, the AT2020 is a great microphone and so is the Yeti. If you are just using Skype I would suggest going for the Snowball unless you really want the Yeti. You'll get very similar sound quality.

I personally chose the Snowball over the AT2020 purely because of the price.

What about a Samson meteor mic?

hmmmm personally I don't like the look of that mic haha but I may be wrong for judging a book by its cover lol

Yeah I was looking at the Snowball as well, but I've heard that they ball pivot don't last very long... but I just searched eBay and I could find the AT for about $110 and the Yeti is about $130

All good choices, just go for the one that suits your needs the best. In terms of the ball pivot, I rarely move mine at all so its never really been a problem for me.
