I would like to have a gaming pc for like 300 usd. I can spend up to $340. The budget is for the computer itself not monitors, keyboards, speakers and stuff like that.

It'll be my first pc build. I don't really know much about pc parts, but I have read all kinds of tutorials and briefly understand what parts are need and what does what.

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/W8gn7h <-- those are the parts that I selected myself based on a gaming pc build I found online while trying to get better parts and deals.

I plan on playing games and making/editing videos.

That will not edit videos very well nor will it play games very well. You're going to have to buy parts used. Near me, for example, is a used R9 380 2GB for $120. You have to look for deals like that.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I don't think that budget is gonna get you far... A GT 740 absolutely isn't gonna get you far

Here are a few things that I do not like about your pcpartpicker list:

Motherboard and cpu. For a $300 gaming pc, all you can really get is amd. I would upgrade it to an am3+ motherboard, and buy an amd FX cpu. You could probably fit a 6 core in your budget. Intel seems a bit out of reach for this budget.

Graphics card. I would not get a GT 740. Heres why:

It falls under that "gpu is too low performance for how much it costs". Wait for AMD to come out with the RX 460.

With all these new GPUs coming out you should wait with building your pc. Normally I would say that you should never go to AMD for CPUs, just because Intel makes faster ones but with an insanely low budget like this it is very likely you should stick with an AMD one here. And like others already said: never go with a GPU in the GT series. 8 GB of RAM is the absolute minimum but it's fine, just don't go below it. You should know that you probably still need fans for your pc. (I never built a pc myself so I don't know if they're included) You should probably consider a higher budget, because $340 isn't gonna cut it, $500 is better but maybe even higher. And you could also consider buying used parts, just try not to buy a GPU that is used for bitcoin mining.

GPUs that have been used to mine bitcoin are fine.

I just noticed something. You probably chose that CPU because it has a (what is considered high) clockspeed and fair core count. GHz and Cores aren't always an indicator of how fast a CPU is.

I'm not sure if they're fine or not, but people mostly try to avoid those

They are normally fine, but YMMV.

This is the best rig I could come up with for that price. The custom prices are for parts you can probably get cheaper locally, or used. Just don't get the PSU used. The case you should also be gettting used. There are usually tons going for like $10.

It's $16 above your budget, but I think it's probably a better move than investing in an antiquated platform. This setup is also good enough to play GTA 5 on high.

Maybe a 500W PSU, it doesn't need 600
