Hi all,

I need some help deciding which path to go.

I am planning on getting a rig for gaming / multi tasking.

Percentage on gaming i would say 80%

I love opening tons of tabs on chrome and do on some apps now and then.

Am currently using I7 2600K CPU and my PC will have blue screen nowadays.

Was thinking what should i upgrade to?

i7 4790K, i7 6700k or i7 5960X

But note just cant just upgrade, your gonna have to change the motherboard and ram

I'm a educated fool with money on my mind.

They say i got to learn but nobody here to teach me,if they can't understand it how can they reach me

Power and the money, money and the power, minute after minute, hour after hour

My Motivation

Video rendering will be done on my mac.

But I was wondering how come 5820K instead of 5960K?

If you plan on doing some video rendering or cpu heavy tasks I recommend the i7 5820K on X99. X99 Will give you better upgrade options later on as well.

If not I'd choose the 6700K, it wont let you down one bit.

Noted.

Was wondering which CPU should I choose.

Because when i search which cpu to go.

i7 6700k or i7 5960x

i7 4790k kinda appear. (http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-5960X)

It depends, though I'd first try to diagnose what's wrong with your computer before all of a sudden upgrading, as you might just be able to fix it without having to upgrade. The i7-2600K is still a pretty good CPU, after all.

If you feel like you need a new system, you will need a new motherboard due to different sockets being used.

If you get the 4790K, you can reuse the RAM in your system, which can save you about $30-$50. It's a little older than the 6700K, but it's not a bad buy, especially if you plan on reusing any parts. Make sure your RAM isn't defective before you reuse it.

If you get the 6700K, you'll get a CPU that's just as capable as the 4790K, but also newer and supports DDR4 RAM, which can influence CPU performance a little bit. You may also be able to pick up a DDR3 motherboard for it if you want to reuse your old RAM, but most boards will only support DDR4. Lastly, Microsoft does not support 6th generation processors on any version of Windows prior to Windows 10.

The 5960X's sheer number of cores really only shines in heavy multi-threaded CPU intensive tasks (rendering, for instance). If you need to have more Chrome tabs, then get more RAM. If you want your games to run faster, then get a faster GPU, as the $1000+ price tag simply isn't worth it given how you're planning on using it.

I chose the 5820K over the 5960K because it's a third of the price for not much higher performance more unless you really need extra PCI-e lanes and 8 cores for gaming. Chose the 5820K becuase it's like the 6700K but X99 allows further upgrades more than LGA1151 will.

Well I tried a few times to fix the problem.

even to the extend of changing GPU and RAMS

however that does not seems to have fix the problem.

I on it for a few days and all a sudden system will go slow n graphic driver not working then poof BSOD.

Changed to a new GPU with fresh format and it is still the same..

Done Ram test nothing pops out..

Thus the idea to maybe upgrade a new rig.

I was thinking of 5960K is because with 32gb ram i have now seems like chrome is crawling.

You have provided me good advise. Thank you
