RAM upgrade not usable???

Go to solution Solved by Polish_Laska,

PROBLEM FIXED!

When I had 4 GB RAM before the upgrade in 'msconfig' under BOOT tab where the advanced options are I had the box for RAM checked. After un checking the box and restarting the PC I re-run the Windows experience index and the RAM went from 5.9 to 7.8. After double checking in the Task manager it gone from 3500 MB to 8152 MB. Thanks all for help though. Much appreciated

Ahm,

Have you bought an 8gb set and removed the old one?

Have you bought a different 4gb set and added it?

Have you bought the same 4gb set again and added it?

I have brought a different set, removed the old Samsung kit (2*2GB) and installed Avexir 2*4GB kit.

Old kit was 1333MHz new one is 1600MHz

Perhaps clear CMOS or update your bios. You might have to reset your overclock and re-enter the numbers.

I doub't it's a dead stick of ram, as it detects 8gb. Weird.

What are your entire system specs? Specifically, is your system an APU based one?

Man am I dumb.

it's running an i5 3570k =P [says so in the screenshot he posted =P]

It's most likely due to his overclock, as he has to reset it and re-enter the numbers as with the OC profile the RAM settings get saved too.
