Ok so my rig: gtx 660, q6600 and 8gb ddr2 400mhz ram has an obvious bottleneck which makes it  difficult to run games at 60 fps because the cpu is slow and the ram is slow (the ram part seems to be genuinely destroy fps in games like minecraft [yes I know minecraft, but there is a serious issue with a pc when it has a gtx 660 and is not only running at less than 660fps but under 60 seemingly due to not being able to hadle great render distances])

Ok so obvious solutions: overclocking and get a new config. But baring in mind I literally just got the computer for £150 I don't want to run down the upgrade path just yet and I don't want to splash out unless there is some cpu on the lga775 platform which can destroy the q6600/trading out 8gb of ddr2 would be worth 4gb of ddr3? And the other option of overclocking is a problem as on prebuilt PCs seem not to be able to overclock from the bios my question is: ARE THERE ANY OVERCLOCKING TOOLS THAT CAN BE USED ON THE DESKTOP FOR CPU AND RAM???!??!?

You do realise with all due respect how unhelpful that is? And so does that mean there is or isnt software for OCing on the desktop or something?

Can you raise the base clock in the bios?

If you can, you can oc it, if not, save up for a new cpu.

Ah, I thought you meant he couldn't access BIOS, that would've been a different story.

Dude I can afford to get a new cpu, motherboard and the like I just don't want to. My question is: is there any way to do this on the desktop?

Is there a option in the bios? If not, you can't oc it with out a new mother board(and at that point, just get a new cpu.
