Turn off Strix 970 white power led?

It's just a tiny LED just above the pcie cable that stays on as long as the card is recieving power even when the PC is shut down. Want to know if anyone had a fix in software that turns this off so I can route my cable a different way without having it shining out of the case.

Clip it and replace with a resistor of the same load?

That is Normal. Asus card LEDs don't turn off. If the LED turns of that is bad.

Wouldn't a small piece of electrical tape over it suffice?

GeForce Experience's 'LED Visualizer' (on older versions) seems to have been the solution back in the day but no longer available on newer versions of GeForce Experience.

The back up plan is bluetack or a small piece of electrical tape - or do your research and buy a newer card that doesn't have any annoying LED's. 

 

I'm only just replying now because I just built my new pc with glass side panel and noticed it and am repurposing my old GTX970 till I can afford a new card.
