First off this is a Netherlands build :) so preferrable when referring to prices use € :D

Hi Guys,

Id really like to start my first PC build pretty soon. A bit of backstory. I have always loved gaming, been doing so on a few computers and most recently an Alienware 17 (2013). I have 'retired' from gaming when the laptop broke for about 12 months now (yes i know right? how did i survive). Anyway i have very occasionally been playing games on my macbook pro (2010 model) CSGO doesnt play out well... as you might have guessed. I am fed up. my fingers are itching. i need to game. I like tweaking things both mechanical and electronic. So i thought HEY! perfect idea, build a PC, have a tonne of fun doing so, and save a few coins in the process :). Okay so here we are, what do i have to work with.

Budget: €1000 including a monitor if possible

as of now im at €940 ex monitor so thats doable but not if id want 120/144hz

Whats it for? Gaming, heheh cant stand without it anymore. I might do some 3D work here and there with SolidWorks for work and University but not too intensive. Lets focus on the gaming aspect cuz thats the most fun!!! 1080p is super fine for me :) been doing that on the alienware and now on a much bigger screen i bet, it'll be awesome. I had a 120hz screen on that Alienware and goddd i loved it. the silky smooth movements compared to 60hz is to die for, (even thought the games like GTAV played at avg of 60) 60hz means any frame rate above 60 you wont notice so thats why i was thinking 144hz display.

graphics card i was thinking maybe a gtx1060? i replaced it with a 970 in the build cuz it wasnt there yet.

The games i played (and will play):

GTA V

Battlefront

BF4

BF1

Arma 3 (this one is important for CPU choice)

Crysis 3

and all the other standard 'pretty' games :)

Parts list so far (this is where i need your help guys!)

So yeah those are the parts i have lined up. So what im asking from you guys is just some tips on optimizing the kit for what i want to do. Overclocking atm sounds a bit scary so i dont think id do that right this second but i think i might want to do it sometime, (if thats in a few months or after upgrading) but at the moment optimizing the pricing would be ideal. I think the best place to still shave some dollars would be off the motherboard. I personally picked the Asus Z170-A first and then thought the Z170-E was good enough :) i liked the color (not that important if it means i can shave off ALOT) and i liked the features, all the ports, good audio, usb 3.1 and 3.0 :) doesnt HAVE to have a type-c but could be cool :)

BTW the 2tb disc is set to 0.00 because i have 2 1tb hard drives that i would probably want to recycle (external HDD 7200rpm) into that build cuz i dont use them anymore.

The Case, ohh goodness i think its really pretty for the price point P400S Window White :) yeah i like it. Plus it gives me a bit of nostalgia looking at the alienware and being able to switch up the colors is awesome :)

Stuff I Already Have:

-as stated is the 2x 1TB hard drives

-Logitech MX518 which i am very comfortable with

-Alienware MX gaming mouse (got it for free, okay comfy)

-Alienware Keyboard (looks okay, touch is meh, PRETTY COLORS :D)

-Speaker set from Bose

Id love to hear more from you guys, the experts, because i only know alot from watching videos and reading stuff, but no real personal hands on experience.

Lots of Love,

ariesblade

noobie :)

Look for used parts. It's worth it for a budget. Take a look at some budget aimed youtubers such as tech yes city as they may help.

As advice i sort of meant more along the lines of the parts used :) not necessarily sourcing them.

Probably my biggest question is motherboard

don't get a z170 board with a non-k cpu, you're wasting money. either get a h170 board and i5 6500 or your z170 board with a 6600k.don't get a gtx 970, get either an r9 390, rx 480 or gtx 1060 instead. also, psu isn't good, get something else.
