The 8gb model of the Rx 480 is much better regardless of your setup, and the only one Ive actually seen in stock anywhere myself, although I haven't checked much.

But, I don't actually know the effects of 2 monitors on VRam usage so I'm curious to see other comments.

I have 2 1080p monitors and I plan on only gaming on one of them, so should I get the 4gb rx 480 or the 8gb one.

Thanks.

depends on the game. I run two monitors (albeit my main is an old 1680x1050 and my secondary is a 1600x900) and even my old Gtx 570 2.5gb could handle it fine. As long as you're not gaming on the second monitor it doesn't honestly make a difference. I'd say just go for the 4gb model.

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

As long as you are only gaming on one of the monitors, no extra vram is being used (well a negligible amount that makes no difference) with the other monitor displaying your desktop/browser/whatever.

4BG is definitely enough for most games at 1080, but 8GB is the way to go to make sure that your card will be able to handle tie games that come out in the next couple years while being able to crank the settings up.

When in doubt, re-format.

You're better off buying the 1060 than the 8GB 480. It's the same price for better performance. The 4GB is the better value because it's less expensive than either of these, and personally I wouldn't have any issue with a 4GB 1080p GPU. It's equivalent to a 980 or (overclocked) 290X, and these cards are perfectly fine with their 4GB.
