Hello there,

my parts just came in last afternoon and I was specting it to work perfectly, since its all new, didn't post on the out-of-the-box test.

The issue is when i jump start the power, the cpu cooler just "taps" for half a second, all leds turns on for a second, all fans (except the cpufan) does spin for a second aswell and then, simply dies.

I think I did every troubleshoot possible so far:

- CPU is correctly seated (3258);

- Heatsink is perfectly fine (cpu_fan header is being used);

- 4+4 pin is correctly seated (tried inverting them and trying again aswell);

- 24 pin is also correctly seated;

- tested the psu with the green and black jumper and a molex fan, they run fine;

- tried another psu just in case, same issue;

- same issue happens when trying to post with no RAM, 1 stick, 2 sticks and and old stick that surelly works

obs: My GPU (750ti sc) doesnt need any extra power, just the pci-e slot, since it spins just fine for a few seconds before shutting down, am I safe to assume the cpu is ok?

Specs are:

asus h81m-a/br

intel pentium g3258

stock cooler

2x 4gb ddr3 1600 hyperx fury

corsair cx430w

240gb kingston ssd

I'd like to know what should be my next steps, thanks in advance.

Did you make sure to install the standoffs?

Tried igpu, took off the cmos battery for a minute, then put it on and changed the 12-3 to 1-23 cmos header for few seconds, issue still remains.

edit

 the psu has a 2x4pin for the cpu, it shouldnt matter which i use, right?

I tried both anyway.

Some motherboards can auto trouble shoot boot settings. Turn the lever switch of the psu off, wait for all pwr leds to turn off before turning back on. Power on pc and let it fail. Hold power to force shutdown. The board should realize its failing to post, so now you push the reset button and it should auto reset. Worked for me when I was overclocking.

Blue screens eh? Did you try setting it to Wumbo?

The problem is, the cpu/psu doesn't stay powered for long enough, half second for the cpu, 3s tops for the psu.

I tried powering one an old mobo with the psu, it posts and boots normally.

So its either the cpu or the mobo...

Who are your money at boyz?

Interesting, except my psu won't stay on long enough either.

I don't think you can bet on CPU vs Mobo at this juncture. A good CPU can be foiled by a bad voltage regulator on the mobo and a bad CPU can be, well, a bad CPU. It's kinda like how to every man, a loving wife. They won't work well together if either of them is dysfunctional. I'd take the mobo and cpu to a local PC retailer like NCIX and ask the help desk. You can tell them you isolated the issue as either of the parts your brought and ask them to help trouble shoot. I don't know if they will charge you though, but typically I don't think they will or they'll tell you the charges before hand. But if I had to bet, a bad mobo is more common than a DOA CPU as intel does screen/bin them. Mobos are like every batch of 50, test 1 I believe

I live in a small city on Brazil, which doesn't have much tech stores, mostly security things, I've asked help there, they said they'll have a look (I left it there on the thuesday, still no answers yet).

I'm hopeful they will give me an answer tomorrow, other than that thanks guys, will you update you when I get it.

edit

So, I found someone willing to test the mobo for me, with a new cpu and vice versa.

Seems like theres an burnt capacitor by the cpu pin which fucked up the cpu.

I suppose its an factory problem?
