I got rid of some of my older PCs to be able to build a better one.

I dont plan on overclocking. Itll be mainly used in my business as an office pc.

Im planning on buying a z170 board only because and Id prefer to have bluetooth and wifi. Unless I find a b or h skylake board that offers it.

Will it handle basic gaming? Sometimes when im doing paperwork or waiting on something, ill load up a game and just screw around.

Im not talking AAA games that just came out. More basic games like Ark, 7 days and maybe some GTA 5.

Anyone got any experience with either? Its going to probably end up with a 970 stuck in it.

Was planning on the following for it.

Non K Skylake

Hyper 212 Evo

Cheap 4x4 ram

Mobo with bluetooth/wifi

970 gpu

2tb hdd

128gb ssd

500 or 600w psu

Its just going to be for my office. I only need wifi because the router for my office is on my neighbors side not mine, and I can't run a cat5 over. Bluetooth for my speakers in the garage.

So which is better for mainly office work, light gaming. Trying to stay under 900 if i can. Ive already got the hdd, ssd, 970.

Only trying to keep it cheap because itll be sitting 90% of the time.

If you are talking about the i5 6500 vs the i5 6400, either should be fine for gaming. I have an i5 6500 paired with an ASUS Z170-E and I can say that this processor is more than enough for gaming. You COULD baseclock (bclk) overclock with a Z170 motherboard but that is something you can only get with a Z170 board currently. There are plenty of Z170 wifi and bluetooth motherboards but you should be able to pick which one you want.

My i5 6500 is bad and can't even maintain 4.5ghz, and 4.4ghz causes it to slowly become unstable over weeks with a vcore of 1.395. FML

Get the zotac gtx 1060 mini for $250 instead of the gtx 970. Get 8gb dimms instead of 4gb dimms to save the other slots. Also, you dont have to get a z170 board just for bluetooth and wifi, get a h110/b150/h170 board and gigabyte's wireless pci-e card instead. Also, you dont need the hyper 212, just use the stock cooler instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Don't get that EVGA PSU it's bad quality compared to the others (this would work though it's semi modular fyi incase that's an issue http://pcpartpicker.com/product/kz7CmG/evga-power-supply-210gq0650), you don't need the evo unless you're concern is noise in which case Cryorig H7 or a lower end bequiet cooler would be better, oh and of course stick with 6500

I didnt know the lesser end Skylake chips had a cooler.

I bought a 6700k and it didnt, if it does then ill just use it. Itll cut 30 off it.

I dug around and kept my key off and old system. Theres some more cut off. Just figure 70off.

For 500 bucks I could have an up and running pc. Time to order parts. Since its an office pc, the color of the parts dont matter. I spent too much on my 6700k to make it pretty and match. This pc will just be whatever color the parts are.
