Ok currently for my audio I'm running a Denon DM39 receiver and Tannoy Mercury V1 speakers, and well they are great, but I'll be moving soon and I really want to move these onto stands and use them as a stand alone hifi, as I don't really listen to music whilst I'm on my computer, and they're sort of being wasted. (I don't really turn the volume up passed 12 atm)

However, I am still slightly abit picky about what to replace them with . . . I've thought about Creative T20 speakers. . . but I'm not sure if I'll need a separate soundcound for them? my MOBO is well it's all in my sig, I'd assume it gives pretty decent sound, I don't really use my comp much for anything other than watching gameplays on YT, oh and gaming but aslong as the sound sounds half decent, I also have a headset anyway for that, which I don't use atm as it goes, I'd probably use it if I wasn't putting audio out through the optical digital, but I do DJ from time to time and search for tunes on Beatport, so it's also quite important that the speakers don't sound "tinny" . . . So would I need a soundcard for these? Again I don't really want a DAC as I don't listen to enough music in terms of pleasure. . . when searching beatport I just need to know if the sample on the site sounds good, if u get me.

Anyway if I need a soundcard to make these speakers sound decent I'm not sure I'll bother as I'd essentially just be better off as I already am? Halp.

Onboard would be FINE for powered speakers as long as it's not more than 5 years old.

"Pardon my French but this is just about the most ignorant blanket statement I've ever read. And though this is the internet, I'm not even exaggerating."

ok thanks, reason I asking all this I used to have the inspire T10, and they were just passable for what I'd like, but if I bought the T20's n they didn't sound much better, I probably wouldn't be that impressed.

Also can't get a set up with a sub as I'll be living in an loft conversion with a wooden floor, lol.

One certainly would hope that as you went up in price in a family of speakers they would improve...

I've heard good things about the T40, and that the T30 are basically the same but don't get as loud - haven't heard anything about the T10 or T20 specifically, however.

He meant, "so long as the motherboard is not more than 5 years old" and it's also worth noting that all speakers are analog.

I know......but it's horrible old analog :P

Is there some new analog technology that's improved speakers recently that I don't know about?  :P
