Hi, I have gigabyte z170x gaming 5 motherboard and i7-6700k cpu. When I try to overclock my voltage goes really high if set to auto, about 1.38/39 and 4.4GHz. But then I enter bios and set it to 1.325, 1.3,1.285 and it will still go up to 1.38. It eaven goes to 1.4 in come cores. I use HWinfo to check voltage and temps. What I'm I doing wrong?

the max recorded by just starting windows 10 to was 1.423 on core 4 with cpu voltage set to 1.285 in bios

The result you're getting from having voltage set to Auto is normal. In regards to your manual input of voltage, is it an explicit voltage you're setting? You can also try messing around with Load Line Calibration.

Should I set it to high or to standard?

What's the lowest that you have? Standard?

yes, I have now lowered voltage to 1.27 but it wont go below 1.3 and it still reaches peaks of 1.404 with LLC in "high". Will try standard now

LLC is used if you're experiencing voltage droop - you could lower the input voltage, and then raise the LLC to high.
