Nah those are still quite expensive and cost about 150 pounds or more on ebay. An unlocked i5 is the best you can get for under 100 pounds. If you can stretch your budget a bit you can get this however : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INTEL-CORE-i7-2600K-QUAD-CORE-3-40-GHz-SOCKET-1155-CPU-SR00C-/152154092875?hash=item236d17354b:g:~sYAAOSwGIRXY-0m

I have a £120 budget for a short term CPU upgrade. I can buy a Z68 mobo to overclock for £30 if someone finds a unlocked CPU for £90. I was originally going to get a 3570k for £85 and a Z68 for £30 to overclock.  What's the best CPU I can currently buy, used or new i dont care, that's 1155.

I already have a 1155 H61M mobo. My rig is:

i3 3220

GTX660

6GB RAM

CX430

You can get a locked i5 for about 50 pounds so im sure you can find an unlocked i5 for about 90 pounds. Get this : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INTEL-CORE-i5-2500K-QUAD-CORE-3-30-GHz-SOCKET-1155-CPU-SR008-/201619502278?hash=item2ef17574c6:g:PfMAAOSwanRXhNcX

Oooo thats even better. Performance wise there isn't that much difference between the too but the i5 3570k is more efficient and runs cooler, which is better for overclocking.

I'm probably gonna skip Sandy Bridge cpus since Ivy Bridge seems to be about 10% stronger, also native USB3 and PCI-E 3.0. I'll probably look into either a 3570k and a Z68 or a 3770 for max ~£120.

Good idea. If I were you I would probably look into getting the 3570k with the z68 or maybe getting that locked i7 for basically the same price.

ivy bridge sucks. sandy oc's way better and runs a lot cooler and and pcie 3.0 doesnt make any difference. a 2600k or 2700k can be had for ~£100 lol.

in fact you can get a 3930K for £120 on a good day so there is no way you should pay £120 for a quad core.
