What Do I do?

I have a radeon r7 250 and an AMD Fx-6300. I originally was planning to just upgrade my GPU to a gtx 1070 but then I realized how bad the bottlenecking would be after watching science studio's video on the 6300 bottlenecking the 480.

Would it be smarted to just get a gtx 1060 and a skylake 6600k instead?

Yes it would or a skylake 6600k and the 480 but you do know you will need ddr4 RAM too right?

The problem with a lack of research is that you will be stung in the long run. 

Your options are:

• Upgrade your entire computer. 
• Upgrade to a R9 380 and possibly upgrade the PSU and motherboard.

You are not going to have a fun time with a GTX 1070 on the FX 6300, but currently the GPU is causing a large bottleneck.

Lack of research? I know that I have to get a lga1511 compatible mobo and some ddr4 ram. I also haven't bought anything so how is it a lack of research?

No, the R7 250 and FX 6300 was a bad combo. I am not trying to offend you, I have had the lack of research sting, I think most 1st time builders have felt the sting.

I bought the PC from IBP. It came like that.
