Really good lighting, a green screen, a microphone, a good editing software and the knowledge to use, creativity, originality, ability to talk in front of a camera, interesting topics etc.

Like gaming new's.

Could you show us a sample of what you're doing currently?

I wouldn't adivse spending ~1000$ on equipment if you haven't done it before. Having good equipment won't guarantee that people will like and support you. If you don't have a fair amount of supporters currently and that you're new to the Youtube world as well, start smaller. Good equipment won't make a good show alone. Of course, you can't have crappy audio/video like maybe 5 years ago when starting out, people have higher standards, but if you invest nearly 1000$ in this and it ends up being a flop, it'll suck big time for you.

It's just like a 'video game maker' that already has the name, logo, website and email adress for his future game, without knowing exactly how the game will be and without having started to develop it. You have to set your priorities, and IMO the first priority right now is to see if you actually can bring some new ideas into the tech news world, or you'll end up a low-end copy of Tek Syndicate and others doing that kind of stuff. ;)
