Need more USB Headers

Hello All,

 

I am having a small dilemma, I have run out of USB headers on my motherboard and require more ports. I also purchased 1x NZXT USB Expansion board and still run out of usb headers.

 

My current rig specifications;

• Case: Coolermaster HAF X
• Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Formula
• CPU: 4770K
• CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GT
• RAM: 32GB DDR3 Corsair Dominators
• GPU: 2x 6990
• PSU: Corsair AX1200i
• Sound Card: Asus ROG Phoebus
• Storage: 1x Asus ROG Raidr + 2x 960GB Sandisk SSD + 1x 2TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD
• USB 3.0 Header: Icy Box Card Reader (for photo transfer)

Items using USB Header(s)

1. Asus ROG Front Base
2. NZXT USB Expansion Board
   1. Corsair Commander Link
   2. Corsair H110i GT
   3. NZXT Hue Lights

I need 2x USB headers for my Front USB Ports on the case as there are 4port free.

 

What are your opinions?

@BlueChinchillaEatingDorito - I do but they an blocked by the 2x 6990 and Asus Raidr.

 

@MightyMic - Thank you but I require internal USB headers.

 

I was thinking of daisy chain the NZXT USB Expansion but it would require me to purchase 2x more (3 total), Don't have that much room in the case anymore.

Daisy chain is risky, because you give priority to certain stuff while pushing back others. 6990 are dual slots, right? So worst case scenario, you use up 3 slots for Graphics and 1 slot for RaidR, which leaves us with 2 free slot, one full size, one is not. You should be able to manage. BTW, I recommend getting new GPUs, theese are very power and space hungry cards.

Hello thewipyk - Thank you for the response. The 6990 are due slot and very long. You are correct about the clearance as there is little space. but you have forgotten the  sound card that take up that last slot. 

 

I do want to change my GPU's as they are old and you are right very POWER + Space hungry. I am thinking to getting 1070 or 480
