This will probably be my upcoming build. I didn't go for the most cost effective parts but what would you change. I went for a max 1700$ to 2000$ CAD build.

Why 2 ssds and not just a single big one?

Why a 4x4GB kit and not a 2x 8GB?

Because there 2 trays in the H440 and I want to showcase 2 good looking SSDs. Could have went for a 480gb for the same price.

Because it looks nicer.

Well i would change those. Easier to upgrade with a 2x 8GB kit.

Same thing as above, on the PNY website the 480 GB costs less than those two combined: https://www.pny.com/ssd-CS1311 (click the 480 GB button). Unless you want to run them in RAID, which you probably shouldn't do with two different size SSDS.

EDIT: Saw your post, I'm not sure how you plan on using both of those drives together, but if the looks is worth $13 go ahead

I will most likely not respond to you in a thread unless you quote me.

Damnit Carl (My portable POS):

CPU: Core i7-6700HQ

Motherboard: Toshiba L55-C5392 Mobo

RAM: 8GB DDR3 (even though I have Skylake)

GPU: Intel HD Graphics 530

Case: Toshiba L55-C5392 Case

Storage: 525 GB Crucial MX300 SSD

PSU: Whatever power jack comes with it

Display: Some 1366 x 768 garbage + an OK 1080p monitor

Cooling: Not enough + an external laptop tray

Keyboard: The included one

Mouse: $4 Lenovo 3D Optical Mouse (not as bad as you (rightly) assumed)

Sound: The Skullcandy branding right under the power button should clue you in

Operating System: Windows 10 Home

Well I just plug them in and partition them and use them as 2 seperate drives, aslong with my HDD.

That's fine, I guess. It just seems a little bit weird.

Hey there :)

My two cents:

The build looks good and rather balanced. What are you going to do with it?

I would also consider two 8GB sticks as it would give you more room for upgrades down the road as well as it may be more cost-friendly.

Have in mind that SSDs with larger capacities generally perform better than those with smaller capacities. Are you planning any RAID setups?

The PSU may be a bit overkill on the wattage side s you should easily go with a 450W-500W one.

Did you miss out the GPU on purpose?

I know 8gb would be easier to upgrade but I can afford the price of 4 sticks, it just looks nicer.

No RAID setups planned.

I already have the PSU, reusing from old build.

Hmm I don't know why it's not in there. Supposed to be a 1070.

If that's the case then by all means go for it :) it does look like a great planned build.

Post a build log so we can follow the progress and check out the completed build. :)

Also, if you need more suggestions or advice feel free to post back!
