Hello all! Today i was just searching around and i was looking to get a new graphics card. So i was doing some power supply calculating on outervision. When i finished i got the total result. It looked a little low so I double checked and when i added in my dvd drive it added around 30 watts. So i supposed that when it was reading a disk it would probably use those watts. This may sound like a very dumb question (im new to the whole pc building stuff) but would it use any watts if it wasn't reading a disk???

Yes, what's your system wattage?

And how many watts can your powersupply handle?

pretty sure its cheaply made as my computer is a prebuilt. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817103013

I'd probably get something like a Corsair CX black and white label, it is apparently a lot better than previous models.
