Hi, i am new to building computers and this forum . I am hoping that you kind fellows may help with my build and give me advice in general , i hope that you would take time to read this and help me , thank you . I used pcpartpicker website to help , this is the link : http://pcpartpicker.com/list/xrRGGf

Cpu : fx - 6300 - chose this as it seems like a great cpu for good budget , 6 core processor at 3.5 ghz , looks good right. Dint choose intel as it seem too expensive for a little boost in performance.

Cpu cooler : zalman CNPS80F - tried to skimp abit on the cpu cooler as i do not have much money.

Mobo : MSI 970 GAMING ATX AM3+ - looked like a great mobo at a decent price , most people do not pay much for the mobo , but i think that it is important for the mobo to be good.

Memory : 2 X kingston KVR16N11/8 (16 gb total ) - i already have one stick , so i am trying to get a another one to dual channel.

Storage - 120 gb ssd and 2 tb hdd - i was suggested to use both a ssd and hdd , the ssd would hold the important programs and the os and the hdd would be where i put all my junk into.

Gpu - Sapphire radeon R7 370 4gb vapor-x -it had a discount last time when i chose it , it was 115 and i thought it was a great price , now it more expensive but i still think this card should be okay.

case : Thermaltake Commander MS/I snow edition (black/white) ATX mid tower case - wanted to skimp on the case but couldnt resist a white and black case as it so beautiful.

PSU - EVGA 400 w ATX power supply - wanted to be cheap.

optical drive - Lite on - IHAS124-14 - felt that i needed one and went cheap.

expected power usage 333W

total price ~ 550

Hope u can give me some insight and tips on oc if possible

Not a good build imo. Ancient cpu, useless heatsink, junk psu.

I'd get this, better cpu, psu, graphics card.

Hermans build is pretty solid. However if i could make one recommendation.. IF this pc is not time sensitive, it may be worth waiting for RX 480 prices to stabilize and get that GPU for 200 bucks instead of getting the r9 380x. But there is nothing wrong with the 380x if you're doing 1080p gaming. it should do a pretty good job of it.

@herman mcpootis

thank you for your help herman , if possible , may i ask why the i5 core is much better than the cpu i selected and if i could use ur build but change the motherboard to maybe something better and use 2 sticks of ram ?

Each i5 core is roughly 40% faster than a FX core... at the same frequency.  Example:  An i5 core at 3.0 GHz is 40% faster than a FX core at 3.0 GHz.

Modern gaming PC cheap as possible, without the GPU:

The rest of your money goes into the GPU.

This will shit on a OC'd FX6300 system.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($179.99 @ SuperBiiz)

^Buy this on SuperBiiz in the next 12 hours using 'SUPERPRIMO' code and you can get it for $165 instead.
Motherboard: Asus H110M-A D3 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($61.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Kingston 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  (Purchased For $0.00)
Storage: OCZ TRION 150 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($34.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($68.80 @ Amazon)

^It's 3TB and has a lower price than the 2TB Seagate HDD on your build.
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 380X 4GB PCS+ Myst. Edition Video Card  ($149.99 @ Newegg)

^I recommend waiting for the $200 4GB RX 480's though. If you can't wait then build your pc without the GPU and rely on the intel graphics until the aftermarket RX 480s are available.
Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($29.99 @ Newegg)

^One of the best reviewed budget cases out there. All black cables, 2 included fans (front and rear), good clearance for psu cables, front USB 3.0.
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($39.99 @ Amazon)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer  ($16.99 @ SuperBiiz)

If you can't go past your $550 budget, go for an i3-6100 on SuperBiiz for $100 using their coupon code. (Still beats the FX 6300)

Get a $25 Windows 10 OS on Kinguin.net: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXTqz3Fd28M

OR why not sell your DDR3 ram so you can build a system with faster DDR4 instead?: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/YZ3NQV
