new GPUs vs. old GPUs

porina

I'm starting to get confused by what's equivalent to what. Let's narrow this down a bit, and assume we're only looking at monitor gaming (not VR) at 1080p and 1440p, but not 4k. Average of many recent big name games.

So, 1080 is new performance level

1070 comparable to 980 Ti?

1060 claimed to be comparable to 980, to be confirmed once NDA drops and reviews comes out.

480 comparable to 970

Has anyone tried compiling a table including other older GPUs?

1080 leader in performance right now

1070 about equal to titan X and 980Ti but with newer technology and better power efficiency. Get the 1070 over titan x or 980Ti unless the price disparity is huge

1060 don't know enough yet to make a statement. Speculation suggests slightly better than GTX 970/RX 480 at around $250

RX 480 comparable to 970 indeed. Trades blows or outperform the other depending on whether the title tested is an AMD or Nvidia title

GTX 680/770 is roughly GTX 960 level, 680/770 slightly beats 960, so they are close to an R9 380. Other than that, idk.
