So, I started my rig up the other day and it wouldnt give me a POST.  I broke her down,  and removed the memory on the Gigabyte board and it gave me the normal "continuous beep" that occurs when no ram is installed. Well, when I DO have it installed it doesn't give a POST.  So, I went and bought an Asus board todaytoday,  and new g skill ram,  which I've already checked for compatibility, and on the new board, I get the "1 long and 2 short"  post code. I've got the entire rig bread boarded right now, in hopes one of my fellow techtippers will be able to help me solve this....

I'm using a standalone. But it seems weird to me, that the Gigabyte board was giving me the continuous beeps, but this one is telling me it's a video error... Crap. Looks like I'll have to throw more money at new egg for a GPu lol

One second let me look up the man pages for the gigabyte board to see what that error code means.

That's weird because I've tried it with 6 different sticks... All of which are 1600 ddr3. Both boardsboards, diff setups.  I'm extremely lost on this one...  Just to clarify, the beep is somewhat like this :"beeeeep beep beep" then it continues to repeat... With or without memory installed. On the Gigabyte board, I don't don't get a post beep at all with memory installed,  but when uninstalled it just gives a repetitive " beep", non stop.
