So i'm wanting to upgrade my current rig (THE SPECS ARE AT THE BOTTOM) but I don't know what to get? my brother told me to get the i7 5820k and i was going to do that but I need a new motherboard to do that :(

I don't even no what kind of motherboard to get? my motherboard now only sports DDR3. also i was going to upgrade my graphics card but i can do that last i was planning on getting the GTX 1070 but any advise would help so much.

Your system is relatively new, why change platforms? Unless you are experiencing Cpu bottlenecks at your use case or your needs have significantly changed, there is no need for a Cpu/mobo upgrade.

 

I would add some more memory since Ddr3 is so cheap and get that Gpu upgrade instead. If you have the money to upgrade to the 5820k then you can get the Gpu instead.

 

 

If you don't have one already get an SSD, perhaps an adata sp550 500gb.

 

What games and at what resolution and settings do you play? Do you do any video editing?

What Power supply are you running?

There is no reason to get a 5820k unless you're doing heavy video editing or something else that requires intense CPU power. Just upgrade your GPU to a 1070/1080 and you're golden. That rig will last you a while if you get a strong GPU
