But I suggested a 6700K? :P

I've been suggesting beefy CPUs even for people who don't do content creation these days. Fact of the matter is, GPU price / performance is through the roof right now, and people are able to accomodate better CPUs thanks to that.

Since video editing is a minor use case definitely get a 6600k, make sure you get a good cooler that will fit in the case, of course a z170 mobo, the ram, storage and power supply suggestions have been fine except the EVGA nex (to my knowledge)

Really the 4 core 6600k is going to perform about the same when clocked the same as an i7

Don't go by LTT's half ass benchmarks, go by DigitalFoundry

The i7 6700K edges out the i5 in many titles that remain relevant today, and that edge would only become more apparent once an OS gets full with antivirus software, videos running in the background and the like.

Yea a 6800K for gaming and minor rendering is to overkill...buying a 960 then upgrading to a 1070 would do you no good since when you buy the 960 and then if you try to sell it you would get 0 pennies because of the RX 480,RX 470,RX 460,GTX 1060

I'll get a 6800k for the heck of it and a 1060 when they are available
