How's this build?

So i want to buy myself a new gaming/video editing pc. Here is what i thought of:

 

RAM
Kingston DIMM 16 GB DDR4-2133 Kit                

CPU

Intel® Core i5-6600K             

                       

GPU
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 G1 Gaming 8GB or GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 1070 G1 GGAMING 8GB                            Not quite sure which one I should get. I want to play on 1440p resolution vise

Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5        

           
HDD
Seagate ST3000VN000 3 TB      

             
SSD
Samsung MZ-750250BW 250 GB    

              
Motherboard
ASUS MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA

Anything i should change out? or get something extra? I'll probably add in a cd/dvd drive.

The 1070 will work for 1440p but the 1080 will get you more performance. If you're going 60hz that won't matter. Your motherboard looks cool but you can save $200 if you go with something cheaper and less flashy.

I would go 1070 and use the saved money for 6700k. 1070 is already going to do a hell of a job of gaming. I mean go 1080 and 6600k if you really want, but that's an option you could take if you wanted =)

If you want it for editing as well as gaming then i would highly recommend not spending $400.00 on a ASUS MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA. Get a cheaper MB and get a 6700k instead.

he will need a 1080 for 144hz 1440p if thats his plan, a 1070 wont cut it.

Based on your suggestions i changed out the motherboard for a MSI Z170A Gaming M5 and upgraded the cpu to a 6700k. And i think I'll go for the gtx 1070 because of my budget.

Any more suggestions?

oh thank god, because a i5 would bottleneck the F out of a 1080 and even a 1070.

As you plan on doing Video Editing as well then go with the i7 6700K and a GTX 1070. If you were purely gaming then the i5 would be fine at that resolution with a GTX 1080.
