Did you forget the case or did you leave that up to me? i kno nothing bout PCs hence why i'm on here. How will this hold up?

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/gbGr7h this is $1 over budget but it's a pretty quiet case which is important if you and mixing sound. Don't want a whirling Hard Drive to be heard from outside the case. :) Hopefully another PC tech-head will be able to foncirm that this build will meet your requirements...

Yeah, audio wont take up much room.

All og your games, OS, and sound applications should fit on the 240gb SSD

and use the 2TB HDD for storage/archiving :) a 480 SSD would be ideal for an extra $50 but I was trying to hit your budget

yeah, man that's totally awesome, really appreciate it. even tho SSD are faster from what i read that shouldn't be an ideal breaker right? that's the beauty of having a pc you can always upgrade in the long run. but for right now this will suit me best until later on.

Yeah, the GPU and CPU will last 5 years. The HDD and SSD 3 years.

The motherboard and PSU should proably be the first to be upgraded in this build later down the road.

Ram will last indefinitely :)

can you upgrade the MB & PSU now? i mean i think i can fit extra few dollars haha nothing to crazy something that will last couple yrs

Monitor: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/fFGj4D/lg-monitor-25um56p

The PSU isn't that bad but the CPU is DDR3 socket so the MB arnd RAM have to be DDR3.

So to upgrade the CPU to DDR4, you would need to spend an extra $200 unless you are will to go AMD...

The MB would go up by about another $50 to match the DDR4 CPU and the RAM price would stay the same.

I'm not sure how to confirm that... the MB has USB 3.0 x 6 and HDMI x 2. Should be enough for sound and gaming, figured you'd use a DAC or AMP for the audio inputs/outputs.

that was my mistake. i came across this MB thoughts ? https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Solution-Z170A-Motherboard-SLI/dp/B019EYYNP0/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1467826619&sr=1-4&keywords=lga+1151+motherboard
