Lost files need help!!

I was on my pc yesterday and everything was 100% normal i went out last night came back and tried to get on just now and everything has gone to shit. I only have about a third of the shortcuts on my desktop and the desktop picture is back to the default one i still have all my apps but its as if i just downloaded them which means everything that isnt connected to a server is done for. Also all of the shortcuts in the start menu are gone. For example i play rocket league so when i logged on i still have my level and all the stuff thats saved to the server but all my settings and replays and everything like that are gone and it wants me to sign in to skype and steam and all those things as if i just downloaded them. I can restore my pc back to the 30th but i rather find an alternative because idk if this will happen again or what caused it. Btw im using windows 7 and i have 1 hard drive with everything on it. I NEED HELP!

I was able to figure it out on my own it was giving me error code 1511 in the event log and https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947215 this link fixed it for me
