Hello,

I'm putting a rig together with parts I had laying around. In that computer are two IDE HDDs, but none of them are detected by the BIOS.

How can I get the drives to be recognisd?

Parts List:

Spoiler

MoBo: MSI P31 Neo V2

CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q8200

RAM: 2x2GB DDR2 - no more details available

GPU: MSI Card with passive cooled nVidia GeForce 8500GT (NX8500GT-TD256EH)

DVD: LG GH20NS10 DVD burner (SATA)

HDD: 2x "laying around"

What I tried:

  • reseating all IDE connectors
  • double-checking the Master/Slave/Cable Select-Jumper setting (both are on CS)

The drives should be intact, copied both of them with a USB3 converter onto a thumbdrive earlier this year, which worked flawlessly.

EDIT:

It's working now: I reseated the connectors another time, the one on the MoBo was probably loose.
