Anyone else find starting a new game in RUST Frustrating as all hell?

I love survival games and sandbox games and I love starting new games but for a game with a huge open world, I run into other players way too often and it seems everyone is a bandit (back to my DayZ days).

I can be somewhere I think nobodys arround collecting wood and dead. I have started joining servers with very little people which makes getting on your feet much easier but then its boring once you're there.

I guess it just sucks everyone in this game just simply kills one another. Nobody is "friendly"

hence why, this summer sale, i deleted rust off my wishlist instead of buying it ;)

a game like rust entirely depends on the 'decency' of its community, and when its entire community are discriminating prats (remember the whole female avatars thing?) it is doomed to be a horrible, horrible game where the strongest, most ruthless player will rule all. (aka the dude that's been on the server the longest)

it is true because that's how the game works. if you dont kill them, they'll come after you either way :P

I'd honestly prefer to just gear up, and defend myself. I'm not out to be a bandit.

Yeah. Exactly.

In DayZ you could (at least used to be able to - I haven't played in a long time) approach most players and tell them you're friendly and they'd be on their merry way and leave you alone. There were of course many exceptions to this but for the most part if you stayed out of trouble, trouble avoids you.

In this game, it doesn't seem to matter what you do. I have to completely avoid people and hope I don't get seen while I'm making TONS of noise punching trees lol.

basicly in dayz when someone shouted friendly at you, you could just guess they were since if they werent they'd hve pie'd you in the face with a shotgun already.

on rust.. it seems to be more so a case of a "grab what you can and gtfo" approach.

Yeah and DayZ even on a full server you can easily avoid people and I find it actually difficult most of the time to find other players.

With the smaller maps, faster travel and easier gameplay in Rust, people are everywhere and almost impossible to avoid. Plus they're assholes....

Dirty, dirty assholes.

:-P
