So I just got my new internet installed yesterday and since the router I purchased for this new internet has horrible range(Arris SurfBoard 6400), I used one that I had laying around(Linksys EA3500) as an access point and disabled the radio on the Arris. I went on my Chromebook to do a speedtest downstairs(away from the access point) and I got my speed I needed. From the same spot, I did a speedtest on my phone and iPad and got 1/4 the speed on the Chromebook. Even going right next to the access point I was getting 2/3 the speed of the Chromebook. What gives? Please help. Thanks.

bump

Holy crap stop bumping it. Please.

Some devices have better wireless cards than others. Your chromebook would have a dedicated wifi card in it with nice big antennas. Your iphone/ipad woud not have a very powerful chip in it, so even while being close to the AP, there is a limit to what the device can handle. There is no easy fix to your problem. THe only way is to replace some hardware.

My native language is C++
