I'm not too sure because Ive never had a phone but I've recently been trying to look for one around w/ the same price range and so far I have my eyes on the Asus Zenfone 3 which I'm planning to get when it releases for my country. I guess it might be a good option for you too.

I'd recommend the newest Moto G, a $200 phone with a clean Android software experience, newest version 6.0.1 Marshmallow, octa-core Snapdragon 617 CPU, 2GB RAM, 1080p screen and a beefy 3000mAh battery. Only downside is that its a 5.5" display but I promise you its very nice to have a bigger screen on your phone (my Nexus 6 is 6" and its awesome!).

Current Rig - CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231v3 GPU: AMD RX480 8GB RAM: 16GB PNY DDR3 Storage: ADATA 120GB SSD 1TB Seagate HDD OS: Windows 10 Pro

Nexus 5X fam. Can be picked up for $230 or more on sale, there was a recent sale of it at $240.

Great camera, incredibly color accurate display, decent specs for a midrange device, amazing software support, things like that.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.
