Hey guys! I was wondering about how reference cooler fans work.

I know how these kinds of fans work:

But I don't know how the reference cooler fans work:

Could anyone explain me how these fans work?

They push air from the top and the bottom of the card, and blow it through the heatsink bolted to the chip, exhausting the hot air through the cuttout fins at the back.

Asus made a simple art to show how it worked when they launched the Turbo OC blower series cards.

Hot air comes out of the front of the card and fan needs to spin rally fast to be able to push it away from the gpu.

 

Its a closed design whereas aftermarket cards are all opnened. Why referencie designs are still using the closed design i do not know.

There have been exceptions. Take the HD 7990, for example. :P It's probably cheaper to use that design.

That's in the past. Nvidia cards have higher msrp than aftermarket unlike in the past.

You're going to need to elaborate a bit more if you want a more detailed answer than that.
