I have 2 MSI gtx 980tis in sli. Both are at the same core clocks as far as i can tell and sync settings is on in afterburner. They are at stock settings as far as core and everything else yet the bottom memory clock is frozen at 3505 while the top is at 405. ive tried resetting my pc and still is like this. Can someone help? Also im on the latest nvidia drivers that were installed hours ago and this was a problem before i updated

not worried about fans because its all custom water cooled

done a restart and now here is what it looks like.... gpu2 has a min clock of 913 but clocks up when being used and memory is still maxed at 3505. i can oc the core and mem clocks and the graph adjusts to the new clock numbers. its just like there is a set min clock for the core and wide open for the memorey. No replies, plz help.

Prepared to offer a small steam reward to the person who solves it. maybe a $20 steam game or something

Gonna follow some of the things in that other thread i found. Closing programs 1 by one. Hopefully it works

Disabling sli brings core down to 595 on second gpu but memory is still pinned at 3505

Might help to go to your Nvidia Control Panel and have it show you what apps are running on what GPU

snip

only chrome is running on gpu 1 and nothing on gpu 2

yes. uninstalled all old drivers with ddu and safe mode and installed the newest driver earlier today

hmmm ths only thing i can think of more would be to flash clean Vbios but i dont see how it would be the problem to begin with xD and its a bit more Risky then to just reinstall drivers... Did you try to uninstall MSI Afterburner and use something like Evga Precision ?

even according to evga precision gpu is still showing 3505 and the other is at 405 for memory, but now the gou numbers aare flipped. so now the gpu1 is the one with the pinned memory and the stuck at 900 core

disable SLI, shut down, and remove the SLI bridge. reboot to OS desktop. open monitor app. verify.

shutdown. reconnect SLI bridge, reboot to desktop, open nVidia control panel, enable SLI, reboot, then restart to desktop and review monitoring app.

ok so now this changes things. Evga and afterburner were declairing 2 different orders. both cards have different boosts so it was a matter of finding what card was what in my system(cant just remove them cause custom rigid loop). i knew the first caard in my system had a boost of 1366 from past ocing i did. I just needed to find the card that boosed to that and id have my answer. so i just did a short stress test and checked the clocks and evga was showing gpu1 with 1366 boost. so evga is showing the correct gpu order unlike afterburner.

so its the top gpu in my setup that has the pinned memory clock and the min of 913 core. so it kinda makes more since that its under load since i have 4 monitors plugged into it. so now here is my question.

is it normal to have a memory pinned on a card in the first slot?

yes, with multiple monitors on, the 'system' is weighted.

reduce to a single or dual monitor and your 'load' should decrease or be eliminated.

as to the different apps reporting different data (upper should be the working card) sounds like a SNAFU/bug.

my SLI 670 on a single monitor was 'unweighted' but adding more monitors increased both GPU/memory speeds (primary GPU).

and just confirmed it as well. disabled 3 of the 4 monitors and mem dromed to normal and cores are now the same so i guess it was the monitors causing the load

@airdeano, @clementk, i am a man of my word if it wasnt for both of you then i probably wouldnt have figured it out or would have taken longer. since there was 2 of you that helped ill half it and get both of you an up to $10 game just pm me whatever and a steam name and ill send it your way

yeppers. gotta drive some pixels, just idling. larger amounts of data cached for the next refresh.

so is there a way to split this load up evenly sorta, like maybe put half the monitors on one card and half on the other?

if you do that you can only run them without SLI or in Suround. Not sure why mine is doing both at the same time might just be becouse i have 780's and you have 980ti's

oh well, least now i know its not something wrong, but rather afterburner giving me sorta wrong info and making me thing it was my 2nd gpu, but anyway problem(not really) solved.

just pm me a game you would like around $10usd of course and a steam name or a email (whatever you choose), its the least i can do for you guys helping me

thanks again
