So I built my computer a couple months ago, upgrading it here and there. I recently encountered a problem that has been a PAIN to fix. I have 2 Graphics Cards that run very hot...

I was wondering what a good fan configuration would be to keep them from going so high. They reach 90c from time to time...

I HAVE replaced the thermal compound on both of them and that didn't really help. Here are my specs and a picture of my case as well as the fan flows...

SPECS:
Chasis: Coolermaster Storm Stryker
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45
GPU: MSI R9 390X (x2)
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K
RAM: Corsair Vengence 32 GB
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
PSU: EVGA 1000W G2

Case Rad Support: http://us.coolermaster.com/aplus/Stryker/images/64_image_001_111315.jpg

I'm hoping this is enough information... IF I have to, I will resort to a custom loop if fans won't work.

Edit: I can move the radiator to the side and put the 200MM fan back on top if that will help...

Do they have custom coolers? R9 390x's are basically 290x's with more vram. They are known to get super hot.

only if the cooler is made by ASUS or is a reference 290(X) cooler.

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Yeah yeah I know but just saying that if the cooler is not a reference or made by ASUS then they don't run that hot :P

Anyway OP, the PSU is going to be fighting for air with the bottom GPU, the front fans, are there actually front fans or is it only the 2 side fans blowing into the hard drives? If there are no real front fans then it's fine to have those side fans but you would probably want to ghetto mount a 120mm or something so it's blowing the fresh air directly into the GPUs.

The short answer to your question is that you have too much positive pressure in the case. too much intake and not enough exhaust. Your fans are going to be recycling the same air over and over which is especially a problem when you have not one but TWO notoriously hot running, open air fans. take the radiator fans at the top of your case and make them an exhaust. It will slightly increase temps on your CPU, but should DRAMATICALLY reduce the temperature of everything else in your case (especially your GPU's)

Give that a go and I think you'll see a pretty significant difference in your temps

Try to blow out dust if there is any. Or replace the thermal paste IF you are ok with voiding the warranty if there is a void warranty sticker.

So you are saying to make the psu intake air from the bottom of the case and not the top? I can see if I can do that.
The 2 front fans are actually front fans putting air into the case.

I can TRY and move the radiator and mount it someplace else, replacing the stock 200MM (or whatever size it was) back to the top of the case and make it an exhaust if that will help.

I will change them up in a bit and tell you how the temperatures act.

or just make the rad fans exhaust anyway?

Yeah, I could do that, the thing is I don't want my CPU to get hella hot.
I'll try it out and let you know how it works.

Usually it won't increase the temps more than maybe 5C?
