I have SPS 630-M power supply. I'm not sure if the cable in the box is 8 pin or 6 pin... It kind of looks strange. One end of the cable is obviously 8 pin jack but if you peep into this side the 8 pin jack has actually 6 metallic connectors the other two are empty plastic covers. On the other end of the cable there are two heads of the jack... One 6 pin and the other 2 pin...i don't know if I can assume that it will work with Radeon 6970 which requires 8 pin connector. I've provided images of both the sides of the cable below. How will I connect Radeon 6970 which needs a 8 pin connector. Help!

Seems like a regular 6+2 cable. The other end is just the part that plugs into the PSU.

But shouldn't there be 8 metallic connectors in the cable... The 8 pin side has 6 metallic pins inside the plastic casing. Two of the 8 pin connectors have no metallic pins? :(

Not necessarely.

You don't really need those 8 wires to provide 150w of power, the 6 on the 6 pin could do that no problem. Given that the other end is a proprietary connection planned for the PSU, it wouldn't be a problem to cut down on the pins, for whatever reason.
