Well, if i remember, Fallout 4 was poorly optimized for PC.

| CPU: Core i7-4790K  |  Motherboard:  MSI Gaming Z97 GAMING 5 LGA 1150  |  CPU Cooler:  NZXT Kraken X61 |
| GPU: Single 8GB EVGA GTX 1070 FTW |  RAMCorsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3 1600 MHz |  CaseCorsair 330R Titanium Edition

Getting Fallout 4 to run smoothly is more like a miracle than anything. You really just have to play with the settings until it finds a configuration it likes.

The largest killers of FPS for Fallout 4 are in this order: SHADOWS, Godrays, AA, Lighting, Textures, AO.

There are lots of shadow tweak guides out for FO4. That and Godrays will give you the smoothest gameplay.

I'm running an FX-6300, HD 7950, and I can get about 50-60fps fairly stable with mostly everything at ultra excluding shadows and godrays. With 300 mods.

Dang... that doesn't seem right at all. You shouldn't have to have medium settings on the 960 and ambient occlusion should be on. The thing I heard taxes the performance is the object fade and you already turned that pretty low amongst other settings.

In my launcher it shows this.

Ultra

Medium

Medium

Ultra

Ultra

High

Bokeh

SSAO

High (Weapon Debris)

I guess my fade are all maxed somehow.

Motion Blur is off, the rest are on. AA Is set to TAA.

Just did a quick double check on the performance. It's running around 59-65 fps which is locked at 65 in RivaTuner. So yea... how you are only getting 30fps with a 960 seems wrong. Any other games performing weird?

One guy was having problems with his games and he needed to reseat him ram and the topic was solved.
