Hi there :)

My two cents:
- A good upgrade which you can consider is adding a boot SSD which would improve dramatically your boot times and responsiveness of the whole build. Applications that depend on the storage's performance would also benefit greatly from being installed on a SSD. Gaming on the other hand doesn't really rely on the storage's performance for anything but the loading times. It depends on what you use the build for. Still, a SSD is a good thing to consider.

- If this is a rather older build I'd keep an eye on the health of the HDD as it is good to monitor it occasionally. I would run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool and see if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests.

Post back if you have any questions :)

Option 1:

I would suggest that look into CPU that can support FCLGA2011-v3. Because top dog processors like 5960x, 6950x, Xeons all use that socket. Invest in a good FCLGA2011-v3 mobo and get a cheap CPU for that socket, and then upgrade to xeons and 5960x,6950x in future years.

Option 2:

Go to skylake Z170 chipset and get a cheap i5 non K CPU

Option 3:

Go to AMD and get a 8-core CPU and mobo for under 200

I need those 40 PCI-e express lanes.
