Linux Mint Random Crash

I have problem with Linux Mint when it crash and my monitor goes all glitchy. This is not the problem of the hardware as computer was running fine on Window 10. The reason i want to switch to Linux is because window resolution is being retarded and is distorting the resolution, and only happens in Window 10. Should i try Ubuntu or do you guys have another lite weight distros to recommend to me. Personally i have been running Linux mint on my laptop have no problem with it.

Hmm any background info you can give on what your doing before the crash usually happens? Like are you playing a game, install software, browsing the web, etc.

It was random ... it happen when i was in command line doing nothing and sometimes looking at "photos"
